In this video, Anita Fuentes, Executive Producer of the Security in Context Podcast, interviews Professor Van Jackson, the newest member of the Security in Context team. Jackson will be joining the project as Senior Researcher and Co-Director of the Multipolarity, Great Power Competition, and the Global South Research track.

Van Jackson is an American political scientist and media pundit who specializes in Asian security and the politics of US foreign policy. He is a Senior Lecturer in International Relations at Victoria University of Wellington, and concurrently holds think tank appointments as a Distinguished Fellow at the Asia Pacific Foundation of Canada, as the Defence & Strategy Fellow at the Centre for Strategic Studies in Wellington, New Zealand, and as a Senior Fellow in the Asia-Pacific Leadership Network for Nuclear Non-Proliferation & Disarmament. Jackson has written three books, "Rival Reputations: Coercion and Credibility in U.S.-North Korea Relations" (2016), "On the Brink: Trump, Kim and the Threat of Nuclear War" (2018), and his most recent, "Pacific Power Paradox: American Statecraft and the Fate of the Asian Peace" (2023). He is also the host of The Un-Diplomatic Podcast.
