Mary Elizabeth Strunk is a grant writer and a strategic/developmental editor with over two decades of combined experience in higher education as an administrator, fundraiser, writer, researcher, and teacher. As the associate director of the Amherst College Grants Office, she helped faculty find external funding and cultivated the relationships that made it possible to apply for and win impactful institutional grants. Mary also sought to improve the way that grant proposals and awards were managed, recorded, and tracked, which led to her current role helping to assess all of Amherst’s operations related to sponsored research and research administration. Previously, Mary was the communications leader for a mediation training company that taught peacebuilding skills through nonviolent communication. She took her American Studies Ph.D. from the University of Minnesota in 2003.
